Mozilla's smartphone OS makes impressive debut

The Mozilla Foundation has debuted its new smartphone and tablet operating system, Firefox OS with backing from an impressive range of telcos, including Telstra and Optus' parent SingTel and with a number of handset vendors committed to supporting it.

Nokia nabs another mobile OS: buys Smarterphone

Nokia has bought Norwegian mobile phone operating system developer Smarterphone, formerly known as Kvaleberg and whose OS previously went by the name of Mimira.

NICTA spin-off Open Kernel Labs (OK Labs) has released a version of its microkernel mobile operating system that, it says, will enable devices to run mission-critical applications with guaranteed and mathematically proven security in parallel with the device's normal insecure applications.
